Why this exists
Not a feed. Not a follower count. A room, some people, and a conversation — with strangers or with people you already know. ChatEasily is the chat site I kept wishing existed, so eventually I built it.
The whole idea
Every one of these is something a conversation does better than anything else on the internet.
The fastest way to stop assuming everyone thinks as you do is to talk to somebody eight time zones away about something ordinary. Different food, different weather, different opinion about the thing you were certain of.
Technical or not. Somebody explains the bug you have been staring at for two days, or how to keep coriander alive, or what their job is actually like. Conversation teaches things a search result never quite does.
Most of a life is not worth a phone call. The bus was late, the cat did something stupid, the meeting could have been an email. Somewhere to put those is worth more than it sounds.
Sometimes you need to vent at somebody who is not in the middle of it with you. A stranger who listens is a real thing, and often an easier thing than a friend who will bring it up next week.
Most friendships start as an unremarkable conversation with somebody you had no reason to meet. This is a place to have a lot of unremarkable conversations.
Not everything has to be improving. Some rooms are for the news, some are for the drama, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest about what people enjoy.
The deal
Nobody here is grading you. There is no algorithm deciding whether your thought deserved an audience, and no permanent record following you between rooms. Talk about your day, ask the obvious question, be wrong about something in public.
That freedom is the point, and it only survives if it comes with responsibility — so the tools are real ones rather than a promise. Block somebody and you vanish from each other completely, in both directions. A room’s admins can remove somebody who should not be there. Anything worse goes through the contact form.
The short version: this is a place to be unguarded, and it stays that way by not being a place where anyone has to put up with abuse.
Before you ask
Not to join one. Open the invite link somebody sent you, pick a name, and you're talking — no account needed. Starting your own room does need a free account, since somewhere has to exist before you can invite anyone into it.
That depends on who invites you. Rooms are private and entered by invitation, so there is no wandering into one uninvited — but nothing stops the people who invite you from being people you have never met.
Yes. Every feature — rooms, direct messages, photos, reactions, notifications — is free to use. There is nothing to upgrade to.
You choose the name people see, and a guest identity needs no email, no phone number and no profile. Say as much or as little about yourself as you like.
Block them and they disappear from your view entirely, both ways. Room admins can remove somebody from the room too. Anything worse can go through the contact form.
Whatever a conversation is good for: learning something from someone who knows it, meeting people from other countries, talking through a bad day, sharing what happened at work, arguing about films, or gossip.
